Washing machines – To wash away your concerns of laundry

If you had a choice between doing laundry and other chores, what will you choose? Ninety percent of others will happily do other chores than the tedious job of washing clothes. It is such a taunting task to clean clothes. It is the only time when your love for clothes decreases drastically. Washing machines have made this task a lot simpler than hand washing. With a hectic schedule, who will have time to spare for soaking clothes, clean each cloth individually with soap and rinse? All you have to do in a washing machine is to dump the clothes, add detergent and water and set the preferred wash cycle. Your clothes will be washed, rinsed and even dried.

Washing machines have come a long way to match the needs of the modern world. They are of different types and utilize various mechanisms to clean your clothes effectively. Buying a washing machine heavily depends on your needs and the facilities you have. Points below give a summary of different attributes of a washing machine which will help you in the buying decision.

Do you set aside a full day for laundry? Or do you have space constraints in your home to place a washing machine? Questions like these are important in choosing a washing machine with a function type that will suit your needs. Based on this, washing machines are of two types, semi-automatic and fully automatic.

Semi-automatic - This is a halfway point between hand washing (where you do all the work) and fully-automatic machines (where the machine does all the work). Semi-automatic machines require manual input in the different stages of wash cycle, like filling and draining water. Because you will have to be near the washing machine during the wash cycle, prefer this type only when you have time to spare amidst other chores. Semi automatic washing machines are available in single-tub or twin-tub. Single-tub has a tub in which both the washing and spinning is done, whereas twin-tub has dedicated tubs for washing and spinning. The washing mechanism in a semi-automatic washing machine can also differ. Impellers with the whirlpool effect and agitators with rotating spindles are the two types of washing mechanism.

Fully-automatic – If you don’t have the time to stand near the washing machine and change water, a fully automatic washing machine is the ideal choice. After adding water and detergent to the clothes and setting the wash timer, you can move away to attend to other works. The machine will wash, rinse and dry the clothes. It is also space saving, as everything is done in a single tub.

Load type

Washing machines are again classified as top-loaders and front-loaders according to the position of the tub and its lid. If the tub is kept vertically with a lid on top, it is a top-loading washing machine. And if the drum is placed with a door at the front side of the machine, it is a front-loading washing machine. Top-loaders require water to cover all the clothes in the tub, while front-loaders require only third of this quantity, as the water is just sprayed onto the clothes when the drum turns.

Checking for a washing machine with the above features in a home appliance store is a painstaking task. Now you can just log onto shopping websites and buy washing machines online. Choose a model according to the preferred function type and load type and get it delivered to your doorstep.
