     The claw is a curved extension on one side of the head. It usually has a split in the middle and it is useful in extracting nails from wood and other materials. The claw is usually seen in hammers used for nailing purposes.
     The face of the hammer is usually a flat or curved surface and it is used for striking. It makes direct contact with the object being hammered.
     The cheeks are the sides of the head and it frames the hammer’s head.
     The handle is connected to the head through the eye. The eye, situated in the centre of the head, ensures a sturdy and secure head-to-handle assembly. The length of the handle usually varies according to the type of hammer. Also, the length of the handle decides how hard the head strikes.
