I stayed with my in-laws when my husband had a job here in Bangalore. But soon he got transferred to Pune so we shifted to a rented apartment in the city. We managed to get a flat with few furniture like a king-sized bed, a dining set and a shoe rack. But we still had to buy all the home appliances and other essential furniture sets. We got our sofa set and recliner customised from a furniture showroom, but appliances there was a long list. I bought the coffee maker, juicer & grinder, induction cooker, water purifier and other small appliances one by one every time I went out because their small size made it easy to carry. But buying fridge, washing machine and geyser was not easy. And as he was busy most part of the day, it was up to me to decide on how to get these appliances soon.

Once our modem was installed and connected to the Internet, the first thing I did was log in to the online websites and check the various models of refrigerators available. It did seem like an impossible task to find the perfect model for our house in the beginning. But I made a few pointers and followed it. Am sure it is going to help you too.

Pick the Right Size - It was the first thing that came into my mind because no matter how stylish and efficient a fridge is, it’s of little use if it doesn’t fit my kitchen. So check the space you can allot to your refrigerator and then pick the size accordingly.

Select a Style or Type - When people are in the process of upgrading their kitchen, you don’t want to end up with one that looks exactly like the old one. So make sure you choose the design of your fridge carefully to match the ambience. There are basically five types of refrigerators available. The single door, double door, triple door, side by side and french door refrigerators. Each of them offer a specific set of features and vary by capacity. The bigger your family, the larger model you will need. You also need to consider your food habits while selecting a type of fridge. Because people cooking food in a bulk and freezing it will require a bigger freezing unit and the ones who eat fresh fruits and juices would need a spacious main unit with more number of drawers. 

Choose the Features You Want - Buying a fridge is a big investment, so make sure you have all the features you need in the model before making the purchase. Features like deodorizer, spill proof toughened glass, coolpad, antifungal removable gasket, ice dispenser, filter and built-in stabilizer. You also need to check if the fridge is a direct cool model or a frost free one. They both have their own advantages but frost free has a longer life. 

Another important thing to remember is the energy rating. It’s best to buy a fridge which has three or more star rating as that would help you save a lot of power. Buying fridge online is quite easy. Most online websites today have filters like price, type and brands that lets you narrow down your choices. Plus you don’t have to book a vehicle to drop the appliance at your place as the online delivery is done to your doorstep.
